The Smokaccia Laboratory
The Smokaccia Laboratory is Phuket's most ambitious tasting menu. Chef Luca Mascolo calls himself a "culinary scientist", and his menus at Surin are inventive, playful and close to zero-waste. The smoked focaccia with mortadella foam that gives the restaurant its name, and a reimagined lasagna, are the dishes people remember.
It ranked No. 2 in the TOP25 Restaurants Phuket and Southern Thailand awards for 2025 and is in the Michelin Guide.
The nine-course menu costs ฿5,500++ and the 18-course menu ฿6,900++ (about USD 164 and USD 205 before tax and service), with meat, vegetarian and vegan versions at the same price. It is open Thursday to Monday, with seatings from 6pm to 7:30pm.

An extraordinary, very creative and special experience. You feel like you’ve stepped into the home of a collector of culinary ideas, everything is highly original and surprising. Chef Luca is a master at extracting the maximum flavor from every ingredient used and combines Italian cuisine with Thai ingredients in a truly delicious way. His team is also outstanding. A restaurant that definitely deserves a Michelin star. It’s very surprising that it doesn’t already have one. Congratulations, Chef Luca, for the passion you put into everything you do there 👏🥰
An absolutely unforgettable dinner. Yesterday we had the 18-course experience and it was simply outstanding. From the very first moment we walked in, everything felt special — the atmosphere, the service, the attention to detail. Every dish was like a small piece of art. Beautiful presentation, incredible textures, and an explosion of flavors that kept surprising us course after course. You can really feel the passion and creativity of the chefs in every bite. The whole evening flowed perfectly — relaxed, elegant, and full of amazing tastes. We enjoyed every single moment. Truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. Highly recommended if you love creative cuisine and memorable food journeys. Thank you for such a fantastic evening.
I have been in many restaurants including Michelin star establishment, the Smokaccia Laboratory is absolutely my favorite of all. Of course, the food is beyond description, it can only be simplified in two words: pure artistry. The distinction comes from service, commitment, elegance, team work, and of course, the outstanding chef Luca Mascolo. Dining here is a journey of the senses.
Love everything designed and created by Chef Luca and the team! Too many outstanding things to talk about but I just keep it short to pick my top 3 favorite: Non alcoholic pairing is a must try; no sweet chocolate dessert also must try if you don’t sweet tooth; thumbs up to the sustainable idea behind all the well curated dishes. We would definitely love to come back again.
I’ve really enjoyed seeing how they’ve evolved over the years. There’s a real sense of passion and growth behind what they do. Easily one of the very best foodie spots on the island. Get ready to dive into a great culinary experience, where also sustainability and a strong sense of identity in the use of local ingredients really stand out. The quality of the ingredients, the execution, and even the vibe of the place are all on point. It’s not just about eating here, it’s about enjoying the whole experience, one bite at a time.

Baan Rim Pa
Baan Rim Pa has served Royal Thai cuisine to Patong visitors for more than 30 years. It moved from its original cliff at the end of Patong Beach to a new clifftop site around the headland at Kalim in about 2015, and the setting is still the reason most people book: candlelit terraces, a teak-house dining room and a view back across Patong Bay.

Black Ginger
Black Ginger is the most theatrical arrival in Phuket dining. At The Slate on Nai Yang Beach, near the airport, a raft carries you across a lagoon to a traditional Thai house on the far side. Chef Anongrat "Piak" Meklai cooks Southern Thai recipes, and the cooking is good enough to justify the entrance.

Blue Elephant Phuket
Blue Elephant Phuket occupies one of the grandest buildings in the old town: a restored Sino-Portuguese mansion built by the tin baron Phra Phitak Chinpracha, on Krabi Road. The high-ceilinged yellow dining rooms make it the most formal restaurant in Phuket Town.
