One Chun
One Chun is the most reliable Phuket Town kitchen for local food. It has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand for seven years running, and it serves Phuket-style Thai and Hokkien home cooking in a shophouse dining room on Thepkasattri Road.
Order the crab yellow curry with betel leaf and rice noodles (฿370, about USD 11) and the moo hong, the island's braised pork belly (฿265, about USD 8). Both are highlighted by Michelin's inspectors.
Expect to spend about ฿300-600 per person (about USD 9-18). One Chun is cash only and gets queues at peak times; its sister restaurant Chom Chan nearby takes bookings if you'd rather not wait.
Guest Reviews
One Chun was easily one of the best meals I had in Phuket. After eating here, I completely understand how they’ve managed to keep their Michelin recognition year after year. We waited about 30 minutes for a table and another 20 minutes for the food, but honestly, it was worth it. We ordered their signature crab curry, and it was absolutely incredible. Rich, fragrant, slightly sweet, slightly spicy, and packed with crab meat. Easily one of the best Thai dishes I had during this trip. The restaurant was packed the entire time we were there, which wasn’t surprising after tasting the food. Portions were generous, flavors were spot on, and every dish felt like it was made with care. Phuket has no shortage of highly rated restaurants, but One Chun is one of the few places that actually exceeded my expectations.
Edit: we came back before our flight and tried other things. Pomelo salad, pad Thai crab curry (amazing, had to re order), Thai fish cakes - amazingly balanced with a dipping sauce and the braised pork. Everything was to die for! We wanted to see what the hype was about, so we stopped here for lunch straight after our flight. They even had space in the back area for our suitcases, which was really convenient. The food was full of flavour and beautifully balanced. We ordered the crab curry, morning glory and massaman curry, and everything was honestly 10/10. The service was also very quick, which made the whole experience even better. The building itself has so much charm and character, and the food was reasonably priced for the quality. Overall, such a great first meal and definitely worth the visit.
Old style timeless restaurant, with aircon. Food is great, some soups are very spicy though, better ask before ordering. The fish is skin-crispy, the curry very tasty (spicy, but not super spicy). The smoothies are large and tasty. Note: the restaurant is cash only!
I had high expectation since it is michelin rated. Though food was good but it was really great. THE BIGGEST REDFLAG is that they DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARD. As a michelin recommended for 8 consecutive yrs and has a lot of customers all over the world, they did not think of making payment scheme convenient for customers.
One Chun Cafe in Old Town, Phuket is set in a charming, very old building whose vintage ambience makes for a pleasant dining atmosphere. The cafe’s Michelin recognition clearly attracts a steady stream of visitors and tourists, and we sampled an extensive spread to see what the fuss was about. In total we tried 15 of the recommended dishes. Unfortunately, the overall impression was underwhelming. A handful of dishes showed clear care: some were well-seasoned and balanced, and a few plates surprised with nice textures and clean flavors. But most items felt merely competent rather than inspired. Flavors often landed safe and predictable, and there was a notable lack of the punch or inventiveness I expect from a place with Michelin attention. Presentation was tidy and consistent, yet rarely inventive; portion sizes were moderate. Service mirrored the food experience. Staff were polite and efficient, especially during busy periods, but interactions lacked warmth and the personal touches that turn a good meal into a memorable one. Value is mixed: you’re paying a premium compared with typical local spots, and while a few dishes feel worth the price, many do not. If you’re in Old Town and want a comfortable, atmospheric spot to try popular local plates, Wne Chun is worth visiting for the setting and a couple of standout items. If your priority is consistently exceptional food and memorable service, you may find the cafe falls short despite its reputation. No Cards accepted. ONLY CASH 🤯

Baan Rim Pa
Baan Rim Pa has served Royal Thai cuisine to Patong visitors for more than 30 years. It moved from its original cliff at the end of Patong Beach to a new clifftop site around the headland at Kalim in about 2015, and the setting is still the reason most people book: candlelit terraces, a teak-house dining room and a view back across Patong Bay.

Black Ginger
Black Ginger is the most theatrical arrival in Phuket dining. At The Slate on Nai Yang Beach, near the airport, a raft carries you across a lagoon to a traditional Thai house on the far side. Chef Anongrat "Piak" Meklai cooks Southern Thai recipes, and the cooking is good enough to justify the entrance.

Blue Elephant Phuket
Blue Elephant Phuket occupies one of the grandest buildings in the old town: a restored Sino-Portuguese mansion built by the tin baron Phra Phitak Chinpracha, on Krabi Road. The high-ceilinged yellow dining rooms make it the most formal restaurant in Phuket Town.
