Nayara Tented Camp
Nayara's tented camp is the most luxurious accommodation in the Arenal area by a considerable margin. Fifteen safari-style tents, each with a private plunge pool fed by natural hot springs, sit on elevated platforms within manicured forest gardens. The interiors are richly appointed: king beds with premium linens, copper freestanding tubs, and outdoor rain showers facing the volcano.
Butler service, a dedicated restaurant separate from the main Nayara resort next door, and privileged access to the property's extensive hot-spring network complete the experience. Howler monkeys and sloths move through the surrounding trees, often within view of your deck.
Nightly rates from around USD 1,100 place it firmly in the upper tier of Costa Rican accommodation. Honeymooners and couples marking a milestone are the core audience, and the setting earns the billing.

Lovely hotel! We celebrated our 10th anniversary and this hotel offered everything we were hoping for - tropical luxurious relaxation. The "tents" rooms are very comfortable, offering an extra wide bed, private large heated pool, a tub, a shower and an outdoor shower. They have several restaurants on premise, wine bar, ice cream bar, several outdoor heated and non-heated pools, a golf cart service, complimentary laundry service and more. The restaurants serve good food (which is a problem since it's not included and the price adds up...) - especially la terrazza that was our personal favorite. The staff are incredible and attentive, I had a staff member (Alexander) drive me around premise for good several rounds looking for tucans since I expressed I wanted to see one. The only downside is the light noise of construction work during the day that was close to our room and disturbed us from disconnecting from the world listening to the relaxing quiet nature sounds... It's not as calming hearing banging and drilling all day. That said - the noise was pretty light and it was still a lovely experience! (Edit following hotel response: I was at the hotel in mid to late December, in room T20... So certainly not off season).
Here for a honeymoon. Gorgeous property with breathtaking views from the room of the volcano. The whole resort is seamlessly integrated into the rainforest giving it a unique and relaxing vibe. Room is extremely well appointed with plunge pool, views of the volcano and an outdoor shower. Staff is extremely attentive and detail oriented. They are making our stay a first class experience. Raquel and Kianny at the front desk were so kind and informative - they were extremely helpful with our inquiries as well. Erick and Jose at Ayla, the Mediterranean restaurant, were also awesome. Highly recommend and looking forward to coming back again in the future.
Nayara is as beautiful as everyone suggests! There is zero chance it will disappoint on that front. But the SERVICE is the standout here. We have stayed at a number of properties and resorts that hold themselves out as "luxury service." NONE hold a candle to Nayara. Attentive, detail-orientated, and warm. There was nothing the staff wasn't thrilled to handle for you. This will be the benchmark for us going forward. We also had a little glitch in our accommodations. Nayara took it extraordinarily seriously and not only fixed it, but removed any need to argue. We could not be more impressed!
If you want to be in the middle of a rainforest, attentive staff, modern style camp with a plunge pool, and direct views to a volcano, then look no further and book your stay at Nayara Tented Camp. The direct view of the Arenal Volcano with hot gases emitting from the crater has to be a bucket list item for anyone. The only cons with this place is it is 2.5-3 hours ride from the airport and the drive will make some queasy. Also, the weather is highly unpredictable and it can rain at moments notice but this is when the part of the nature comes to life. This is a beautiful property and I will highly recommend it. PRO TIPS: (1) They have other property - Naraya Garden but you need to book direct volcano view with a plunge pool (Naraya Tented Camp). (2) You can ask for breakfast to be served in your tented camp every morning and it is a wonderful experience. (3) They offer complimentary laundry so take advantage of it.
Set your expectations high and be prepared to have them exceeded on every level. Well appointed rooms. Excellent staff. Beautiful grounds. Your own private hot spring plunge pool. 5 star resort immersed into a rain forest. Wild orchids. Sloths. Another level never experienced before.

Andaz Papagayo
Hyatt's Andaz brand brings a younger, more design-forward sensibility to Peninsula Papagayo. The property sits lower on the landform than its Four Seasons neighbour, with direct access to Nacascolo beach and a markedly more informal atmosphere. Concrete, wood, and local stone combine in a contemporary tropical aesthetic, and the curated art collection through the public spaces gives it a gallery-like character.

Botanika Osa Peninsula
A newer arrival to the Osa's lodge scene, Botanika brings a contemporary design sensibility to the rainforest-lodge format. Open-plan suites with freestanding bathtubs, rainfall showers, and expansive decks face directly into primary forest, and the infinity pool overlooks the Golfo Dulce.

Four Seasons Papagayo
The Four Seasons commands a dramatic hilltop on the western flank of Peninsula Papagayo, looking down on two beaches, Virador and Blanca, with the Gulf of Papagayo beyond. The architecture is bold: soaring palm-thatched rooflines drawn from traditional rancho structures, with the resort cascading down the hillside toward the water. Rooms and suites are spacious and impeccably finished, many with private plunge pools and uninterrupted ocean views.
