Botanika Osa Peninsula
A newer arrival to the Osa's lodge scene, Botanika brings a contemporary design sensibility to the rainforest-lodge format. Open-plan suites with freestanding bathtubs, rainfall showers, and expansive decks face directly into primary forest, and the infinity pool overlooks the Golfo Dulce.
The kitchen takes a more refined approach than the older lodges in the region, and the property occupies a deliberate middle ground between the raw jungle immersion of Lapa Rios and the resort comforts of Peninsula Papagayo. It suits travellers who want serious nature experiences without giving up design-forward interiors.
Expect rates from around USD 550 per night, inclusive of meals and selected excursions. A strong choice for the Osa if you want wilderness with a polished edge.

Luxury in the heart of nature. Botanika is a beautiful Hilton Curio property located opposite the airport (not a problem) on the edge of a lovely piece of jungle property on the edge of the bay. To be clear the bay is a bit of a walk from the property but there are nature walking trails. Pros: Modern, clean rooms; thoughtful staff & housekeeping); excellent restaurant and bar at pool; and a fantastic pool/Jacuzzi they have bulk sunscreen (great idea). The beach shuttle (4x4 Land Cruiser) takes you to a private, quiet paradise with full beach bar & menu. We literally were the only ones on the beach for a 1/2 mile each way. We had a wonderful lunch after a few restful hours walking, swimming and lounging They provided beach towels. Walk back to the Crocodile Bay property and Dining: Great breakfast but a bit pricey, dinner was very nice at the restaurant. The pool bar’s quesadilla was an amazing choice. Service: The restaurant staff and drivers are all wonderful—incredibly friendly/helpful.
We stayed here for one week. Breakfast buffet was wonderful. Our server, Denis, was so very helpful, pleasant and attentive. Rooms were always clean, the beds were very nice, and a/c worked perfectly. They did a very smart thing to hook up with Crocodile Bay tours. Eduardo and Katherine were the best!! My husband is a photographer and they especially helped him get wonderful photos. We loved our visit. The pool was a welcome relief from the humidity.
Botanika was absolutely beautiful, one of the best pools ever. Staff and facilities were amazing. Rooms were perfect. Wildlife on the trails was incredible. The wellness center was very nice but could use some upgrading. I would definitely recommend taking Amed's (wellness director) yoga class, it was an inspiring experience.
Came across this hotel accidentally and it was the biggest highlight of my trip to Costa Rica. The check in staff is so friendly and accommodating. Mauro and Dylan are extremely knowledgeable of the premises. Dylan who works as a part of the security team knows in and out of the property including where the animals rest. In the hotel i saw, sloths 🦥, Macaws 🦜, Crocodile🐊, howlers monkeys 🐒, Racoons 🦝 and so many different flora and Fauna. The tours to Corcovado are easily accessible from this location. The restaurant food and service, especially from Kennia is amazing. If i ever visit CR again, this will be on top of my list. Enjoy ❣️
We found that the staff weren’t that helpful or knowledgeable about the area. Our check-in experience was poor, and we were left waiting for a long time before checking in. They were renovating some rooms and the noise of the works was extremely loud, starting at 6am with loud drilling from 8am which we thought was too early. The staff around the pool were also playing really loud aggressive rap music through a portable speaker. It completely ruined the ‘eco/jungle’ environment and eventually we asked for it to be turned off. The rooms were nice enough quality and the cleaning was a good standard. One thing that upset us was that we asked for a few more coffee pods and were asked to pay €1+tax per pod! I’ve never in my life had to pay for some extra coffee pods and was frustrated that they weren’t flexible on this. The restaurant was also extremely expensive, and we quickly started to go to the Hard Croc restaurant (situated in the original hotel building, and only a 1 minute walk from the accordion blocks). The food was much better priced and I’d highly recommend it to anyone staying. The nature was really cool and there were monkeys and sloths hanging about the hotel area. All tours and day trips we organised separately as again the hotel price was crazy compared to local operators. One thing we would have appreciated was a free transfer, or at least free use of the bikes, to get to the public pier. It just felt like they’re really trying to milk you for money. The driver called Mauro was really excellent, helpful and friendly. He was far more knowledgeable than the reception staff and gave us really good advice on what to see and do, as well as helping with the airport transfer. It’s the only good hotel in the area, so for that reason I would recommend staying here. However if you stay and you’re on a budget/value good service, be aware that it’s very expensive and the experience feels a little unpolished. For the nature alone, I’d strongly recommend a visit to this area.

Andaz Papagayo
Hyatt's Andaz brand brings a younger, more design-forward sensibility to Peninsula Papagayo. The property sits lower on the landform than its Four Seasons neighbour, with direct access to Nacascolo beach and a markedly more informal atmosphere. Concrete, wood, and local stone combine in a contemporary tropical aesthetic, and the curated art collection through the public spaces gives it a gallery-like character.

Four Seasons Papagayo
The Four Seasons commands a dramatic hilltop on the western flank of Peninsula Papagayo, looking down on two beaches, Virador and Blanca, with the Gulf of Papagayo beyond. The architecture is bold: soaring palm-thatched rooflines drawn from traditional rancho structures, with the resort cascading down the hillside toward the water. Rooms and suites are spacious and impeccably finished, many with private plunge pools and uninterrupted ocean views.

Hotel Si Como No
This pioneering eco-resort has long set the standard for sustainable luxury in Manuel Antonio. Terraced into the hillside with views through the canopy to the ocean, Si Como No was the first hotel in Costa Rica to earn five leaves under the national sustainability certification, and its green credentials are genuine rather than decorative.
