Andaz Papagayo
Hyatt's Andaz brand brings a younger, more design-forward sensibility to Peninsula Papagayo. The property sits lower on the landform than its Four Seasons neighbour, with direct access to Nacascolo beach and a markedly more informal atmosphere. Concrete, wood, and local stone combine in a contemporary tropical aesthetic, and the curated art collection through the public spaces gives it a gallery-like character.
The adults-only pool, kept separate from the family pool, is a particular draw for couples, and the three restaurants deliver real quality without the formality of a traditional luxury resort. It manages to feel relaxed and grown-up at once.
Expect rates from around USD 700 per night, a slightly more accessible entry into Peninsula Papagayo, though still firmly a high-end address.
Guest Reviews
We had an absolutely incredible stay at Andaz Peninsula Papagayo. From the moment we arrived, the level of service and attention to detail was exceptional. My wife has a strict dairy and soy allergy, and the team went above and beyond to accommodate her. Every time we ordered food, one of the chefs personally came out to speak with us to walk through ingredients and preparation. A huge thank you to Chef Matias, Chef Sergio, Chef Luis, and Chef Javier — they made every meal feel safe, thoughtful, and genuinely special. Katarina, the manager, was also fantastic and ensured everything throughout our stay ran smoothly. Traveling with a baby can be challenging, but the staff made it incredibly easy for us. They were patient, warm, and always ready to help with anything we needed. The resort itself is stunning, but what truly made the experience unforgettable was the people. The level of care, especially around food allergies and accommodating our baby, was something we’ve rarely experienced. We can’t wait to come back.
I wish we had saved ourselves the headache and stayed elsewhere. There are so many 5-star options. For the price, this should’ve been a much better experience. 3 night stay in Feb. The management of the hotel is the issue. They are cold, do not take issues very seriously, and no follow up. Complete downer on the experience. Food is okay - good, not amazing. Hotel grounds and rooms - very nice. Hotel staff (at the restaurants and the concierge)- very good; they are warm and friendly (unlike the front desk and management). Given this experience, I’ll try one of the other hotels on my next trip.
Words can not describe this place. Amazing service, in an even more amazing location Staff is extremely accomodating and polite and they will go out of their way to accomodate any needs. Breakfast is amazing! Lots of choices and great quality. Also tried Ostra and Chao for dinner. Probably some of the best food we had in Costa Rica. Furniture in the roo. S might be a bit dated and show signs of wear and tear, but overall amazing experience. Will definety be coming back.
We had a relaxing, fun girls trip to a destination wedding at the Andaz. The staff couldn’t be nice or more friendly. The property is beautiful - we loved the two perched pools with cabanas. Their remote beach was gorgeous by boat. They had four restaurants. The almost daily yoga with perched hot waters and cold plunge was frequently visited. We loved staying in building 4 - near steps to pool, workout/spa facilities and a gorgeous view. We saw monkeys throughout the day, especially at breakfast. We did zip lining and a high ropes course(all levels) that was fun - very nice facilities. The property is near the Ritz and Four Seasons and gated. A morning walk to the marina starts the day. Very relaxing!
Perfection! Had never been to the Guancaste region of Costa Rica before, and I'd compare the Papagayo landscape similar to Hawaii (which is one of the best compliments I can give!). The gated community contains three hotels, private residences and multiple beach clubs. The hotel design was gorgeous and every restaurant has a view. The food was always fresh and the staff were always very responsive. Every room (I'm pretty sure) also has a view, even if you're in the lowest tier, so it's hard to go wrong at Andaz. The boat trip to the beach club was a wonderful experience. I was surprised by how family friendly the place is! We even saw staff handing out beach toys to the kids. (There is an adults-only pool though if you prefer). Don't miss out on the complimentary shuttle to try out restaurants at the other hotels: Ritz Carlton & Four Seasons. It was one of our highlights. Both of the hotels face the other side of the penninsula so try and go when you can catch sunset. It was spectacular!

Botanika Osa Peninsula
A newer arrival to the Osa's lodge scene, Botanika brings a contemporary design sensibility to the rainforest-lodge format. Open-plan suites with freestanding bathtubs, rainfall showers, and expansive decks face directly into primary forest, and the infinity pool overlooks the Golfo Dulce.

Four Seasons Papagayo
The Four Seasons commands a dramatic hilltop on the western flank of Peninsula Papagayo, looking down on two beaches, Virador and Blanca, with the Gulf of Papagayo beyond. The architecture is bold: soaring palm-thatched rooflines drawn from traditional rancho structures, with the resort cascading down the hillside toward the water. Rooms and suites are spacious and impeccably finished, many with private plunge pools and uninterrupted ocean views.

Hotel Si Como No
This pioneering eco-resort has long set the standard for sustainable luxury in Manuel Antonio. Terraced into the hillside with views through the canopy to the ocean, Si Como No was the first hotel in Costa Rica to earn five leaves under the national sustainability certification, and its green credentials are genuine rather than decorative.
