Filario
Filario is a modern lakefront hotel in Lezzeno, between Como town and Bellagio on the eastern shore. The 10 rooms are minimalist and elegant, with floor-to-ceiling windows over the lake, and there is a small pool, a good restaurant, and a jetty for boat arrivals.
The scale is intimate, closer to staying in a private lakeside home than a hotel.
Rates start around EUR 300. Filario suits independent travellers who want a quiet base with a contemporary sensibility and do not mind being slightly off the main tourist circuit; a car or regular ferry use helps from here.
Guest Reviews
We were so happy with our experience and the service at the Filario Hotel & Residences. We spent a few nights there for our wedding, and it was absolutely perfect. The staff were all incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, and the entire stay felt so intimate — exactly what we needed for such a special trip. We stayed in the junior suite and absolutely loved our room and accommodations. Traveling with our baby and experiencing some rainy weather, we found ourselves perfectly content staying in and relaxing. The view was incredible, and it made it so easy to slow down and enjoy the moment. We ate at the hotel restaurant every day — whether through room service or dining in — and thoroughly enjoyed every meal. Our stay truly exceeded expectations, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a meaningful occasion.
Pro’s - amazing views - large two bedroom apartment - the staff were helpful in finding us a last minute reservation at a local restaurant (things get booked up in advance and there are not many choices close to the hotel) - great pool and helpful staff at the pool - short walk to ferry port to bellagio and other areas Con’s - I told them it was my partners 40th they said one day was too short notice for a cake, but they were aware it was his birthday and could arrange for some prosecco in our room. We did NOT receive anything it was a milestone birthday so this was disappointing. As it was also a very expensive room. - the food at the hotel restaurants was quite bland and small portions although the service and ambience were great - you really need a car in this area if you have kids, something we weren’t aware of, not many shops near by and on the walk to the ferry port there were no footpaths for the whole route (being pregnant with a 2 year old and narrow roads not ideal). - we encountered a lot of bug bites, it’s not clear if it was from the bed, or the general area, lots of bugs on balcony best to keep doors closed, and bring repellent.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Filario! Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side that week—unusually stormy for September—which impacted much of the lakeside area. Despite the torrential rains, Camilla and the team went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and still able to enjoy our trip. They kept us updated on ferry schedules and arranged alternative rides when needed, which made a huge difference. While we couldn’t take advantage of the beachside amenities due to the weather, the rest of our stay was wonderful. The town has some incredible restaurants, and we met several locals who were so warm and welcoming. We’re already looking forward to coming back—hopefully under sunnier skies next time!
Stayed two nights in the residences. Except for the view, everything else is not worth the value for money you get. - Design hotel? There is no design in the residences. Furniture is very cheap. - Breakfast personnel: some were rude and didn’t want to fill the buffet 30 min before breakfast ends additional 8 euros for eggswould not be a problem when you pay for an old, furnished, dirty apartment over 350 euros per night. - Rooms were not clean. - Gym without window, very small and bad smells. - The value for money for 350 euros per night in October, where you cannot use the private beach, is not worth it at all. - I’ve stayed in at least 300 hotels, this was by far the worst value for money.
Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 college students) stayed here in July and it exceeded our expectations! The apartment was perfect for us to all stay together. The staff was exceptional. I don't want to call out any one particular person because truly, they were all so very helpful and pleasant. They helped us book car transportation, a private boat tour, and meal reservations. The pizza here at the hotel restaurant is some of the best we had in Italy. And the location is perfect. The hotel and town of Lezzeno is quiet and just a short easy bus ferry or bus ride to Bellagio. (We recommend learning to use the bus as it stops right in front of the hotel.) We're so happy and so thankful we stayed at the Filario Hotel!
More Hotels in Lake Como

Grand Hotel Tremezzo
The Grand Hotel Tremezzo is, for many, the definitive Lake Como hotel. It has been hosting guests since 1910, and the combination of Art Nouveau architecture, a floating pool set in the lake itself, lakeside gardens, and views directly across to Bellagio creates a striking setting. This is the hotel that appears in every Lake Como feature, and it earns the attention.

Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni
The Villa Serbelloni is Bellagio's grande dame: a neoclassical palace at the tip of the promontory, with gardens, a pool, a private dock, and old-world grandeur that modern hotels cannot replicate. The hotel has operated since 1873, and the frescoed ceilings, marble floors, and crystal chandeliers reflect that lineage without feeling preserved in amber.

Hilton Lake Como
The Hilton is Como town's most prominent modern hotel, occupying a waterfront position with views across to Cernobbio. It is a contemporary, well-run property with a rooftop bar, an infinity pool, and clean-lined rooms, providing a comfortable base without the heritage of the lake's grand hotels.
