Mama San
Mama San is Will Meyrick's pan-Asian restaurant on Jalan Raya Kerobokan, a few minutes inland from Seminyak's beach strip. Meyrick, who also runs Hujan Locale in Ubud, built the menu around Asian street food. The 130-seat room is styled after a 1920s Shanghai dining hall, with a DJ lounge upstairs.
Dim sum, soft-shell crab, wagyu skewers and a Burmese lamb curry are the dishes regulars return for. For a first visit, the "Feed Me" menu lets the kitchen choose for you, and it costs IDR 550,000++ per person (about USD 31 before tax and service), for a minimum of two.
Mama San is open daily from noon to 10:30pm. It has been one of Seminyak's most reliable restaurants for more than a decade, and a booking a few days ahead is usually enough.
Guest Reviews
I made a dinner reservation in advance to celebrate my birthday, and I’m very glad I chose Mamasan. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere set the tone for a special evening. The restaurant is elegant, stylish, and impeccably clean—an ideal setting for a celebration. The staff immediately made us feel welcome, greeting us with genuine warmth and constant smiles throughout the night. The service remained outstanding from start to finish. Not only our assigned server, but also managers and other team members were attentive and proactive, always ensuring we were well taken care of. This level of care created a very warm and comfortable dining experience. The food was another highlight of the evening. Every dish was beautifully prepared, with generous portions and rich, well-balanced flavors that clearly reflect a high level of skill and attention to detail. A few dishes were slightly on the saltier side for my personal taste, but I felt they would pair perfectly with rice. What made the night even more memorable was a thoughtful birthday surprise. I had mentioned my birthday during the booking, and during dessert the team brought out a cake with a candle and sang “Happy Birthday.” It was a simple but incredibly touching gesture that truly made my day feel special. Considering the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere, the pricing felt very reasonable—especially compared to other well-known restaurants in Seminyak that were more expensive but less satisfying. Overall, I highly recommend Mamasan and would gladly return. It was a truly memorable birthday experience, and I’ve already been sharing it with friends and on social media. Thank you to the entire team for making my birthday so special and for giving us such beautiful memories from Bali. ❤️
We weren’t supposed to be in Seminyak but the call of the prawn har gow from 2 years ago meant we jumped in a car and headed an hour to dinner at Mama San. We were definitely not disappointed and the food was worth the drive. Our waiter Panca looked after us brilliantly. His friendly service and recommendations on both the food and wine menus were very well received. The restaurant is all class and the vibe excellent. We won’t make the mistake of missing a Seminyak stay for our next Bali visit.
After reading so many amazing reviews about Mama San, I finally decided to give it a try—and it exceeded all my expectations! The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish beautifully prepared and full of flavor. A special thank you to Ella, who was incredibly gracious and attentive. Her recommendations were spot on—the prawn har gow, nori tuna, Hokkaido scallop, and duck bao bun were all outstanding. Every dish was a highlight, and I genuinely loved everything I tried. Exceptional food, warm hospitality, and a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu!
We had a beautiful meal here for our last meal in Bali. The food was delicious, the pork belly, tuna and Peking duck are a must! We also had the scallops for a starter but were not big fans of this one. The service was excellent by all staff members, from meet and greet to the wait staff at the table. The atmosphere for dinner is lovely and the music was an excellent choice, really suited the ambiance . We were celebrating my mums bday, after our meal they bought out a lovely complimentary dessert plate, the passionfruit brûlée was absolutely Devine!
Loved every part of our experience at Mamasan while on holidays. The attention to detail is next level. QR code to see the pictures of menu items, and the table was wiped and new plates and cutlery provided between entree and main. The food was absolutely amazing. Thank you to our server Ella and the team for your high class, friendly service and singing Happy Birthday. Would recommend and will be back again!

More Restaurants in Bali

Apéritif
Apéritif is the fine-dining restaurant at Viceroy Bali, set above the Petanu River valley a short drive from central Ubud. The room is styled after a 1920s colonial dining salon, with its own bar. Executive chef Nic Vanderbeeken, who is Belgian, applies European technique to Indonesian ingredients. Tatler Best Indonesia named it one of the country's 20 best restaurants in both 2025 and 2026.

Cuca
Cuca is Jimbaran's most exciting restaurant and one of the most original dining concepts on the island. Chef Kevin Cherkas, who trained at elBulli and Arzak in Spain and at Daniel in New York, opened Cuca with Virginia Entizne in 2013. He brings a distinctly creative sensibility to a menu built around small, tapas-style plates designed for sharing. The setting is deliberately casual, an open-air pavilion surrounded by gardens, which belies the technical sophistication of the cooking.

Home by Chef Wayan
Home by Chef Wayan sits on Jalan Pantai Pererenan, just west of Canggu. Chef Wayan Kresna Yasa is Balinese, trained in Michelin-starred kitchens and later cooked for the Potato Head group, and he co-wrote the cookbook PAON. His own restaurant serves modern Balinese and Indonesian cooking in the style of a family table. Tatler Best Indonesia 2026 named it one of the country's 20 best restaurants, the only one in the Canggu area.
