Ijen
Ijen sits on Petitenget Beach inside Desa Potato Head in Seminyak. When it opened in 2017 it was billed as Indonesia's first zero-waste restaurant, and it reopened in 2026 under head chef Albert Susanto. The menu changes with the day's line-caught fish, cooked over open fire.
Dishes have included fish rillettes, prawns with house-made kosho, chargrilled octopus with romesco and a noodle dish made from fish bones. The zero-waste approach still shapes how the kitchen uses each fish.
Mains start from around IDR 85,000++ (about USD 5). Ijen faces west over the sea, so book an early-evening table for sunset.
Guest Reviews
Great ambience, attentive and warm service staff partially offset the really disappointing portion sizes. Had the Seafood Feast which was advertised as good for 2-3 people for around Rp 2M after taxes. It was hardly a feast, more like a fancy snack board - hubby and I left the restaurant still hungry. Food taste was good but portion size really has to be improved for this price point. The Seafood Feast was a cold platter (which the waitress had clearly explained) that came with a measly half a small lobster, some shrimp, some clams served on a huge mound of ice. The rest were side dishes for dipping and picking at (octopus was served diced). Crudo and tuna tartare were yummy. It’s one of those places that you visit once because of the name and location, get ripped off, and then never go back again. The beachfront was lovely and architecture of the hotel and shoppes were quite spectacular 👍🏻
Ijen seafood restaurant is set in the grounds of Desa Potato Head Beach Club which is an amazing complex - I’m so pleased we came, such a good vibe. The Sea Bream was excellent. The whole experience is a must do!
In front of the beach and pool, this restaurant gives a great vibe and very relaxing. Staffs are kind and friendly. I like the food- but with a beach club concept, I had a higher expectation on pizza and fish
Extremely impressed by the refined flavors and composition of these dishes here. Seafood is very well integrated in the dishes and of high quality. We had a very good dinner here. Staff was a bit too touchy at times, and rushed dishes out until I told them to calm down. Dessert was also a complete miss. But otherwise a great experience.
Turned up here just coz it was convenient and without much expectation. We were blown away by the food. I’m not a big fan of fish, but their whole market fish (grilled red snapper) was the standout dish of the night and probably the best version of red snapper I’ve ever eaten. We also ordered their grilled clams, grilled octopus, prawn special of the day, romaine, tomatoes, and potatoes. My family and I agreed that everything was super delicious. Walked away stuffed and happy. Might need to go back again. Highly recommend!

Apéritif
Apéritif is the fine-dining restaurant at Viceroy Bali, set above the Petanu River valley a short drive from central Ubud. The room is styled after a 1920s colonial dining salon, with its own bar. Executive chef Nic Vanderbeeken, who is Belgian, applies European technique to Indonesian ingredients. Tatler Best Indonesia named it one of the country's 20 best restaurants in both 2025 and 2026.

Cuca
Cuca is Jimbaran's most exciting restaurant and one of the most original dining concepts on the island. Chef Kevin Cherkas, who trained at elBulli and Arzak in Spain and at Daniel in New York, opened Cuca with Virginia Entizne in 2013. He brings a distinctly creative sensibility to a menu built around small, tapas-style plates designed for sharing. The setting is deliberately casual, an open-air pavilion surrounded by gardens, which belies the technical sophistication of the cooking.

Home by Chef Wayan
Home by Chef Wayan sits on Jalan Pantai Pererenan, just west of Canggu. Chef Wayan Kresna Yasa is Balinese, trained in Michelin-starred kitchens and later cooked for the Potato Head group, and he co-wrote the cookbook PAON. His own restaurant serves modern Balinese and Indonesian cooking in the style of a family table. Tatler Best Indonesia 2026 named it one of the country's 20 best restaurants, the only one in the Canggu area.
