Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan
The Four Seasons at Sayan was the original Ubud luxury property and remains one of the most architecturally accomplished hotels in Southeast Asia. The arrival is theatrical: a pedestrian bridge spans the Ayung Valley to a rooftop lotus pond, and from there you descend into a resort built directly into the river gorge below. Every room and public space is framed to maximise the jungle and the water.
Suites occupy the main building, while standalone villas with private pools line the riverbank. The infinity pool appears to float above the valley, and Dharma Shanti, the spa, specialises in Balinese healing traditions that are worth booking before arrival. Breakfast at Ayung Terrace, with the river far below, is the kind of morning that stays with you.
Rates range from around USD 500 for a valley-view room to USD 2,000 and beyond for a two-bedroom villa. The property consistently performs at the very top of the Four Seasons portfolio.
Guest Reviews
The Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay is a destination that blends authentic Balinese culture with world-class luxury, and my recent stay there with Ahmed was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, the service stood out — warm, attentive, and deeply personal, with staff going out of their way to make us feel at home. Ahmed and I were impressed by how every detail was handled with care, whether it was arranging our villa check-in or ensuring our dining preferences were remembered throughout the stay. The food and restaurants at the resort are truly exceptional. Each meal felt like a journey through flavors, with a perfect balance between traditional Balinese cuisine and international dishes. The beachfront restaurant offered freshly caught seafood grilled to perfection, while the breakfast spread was a feast of tropical fruits, pastries, and local specialties. Ahmed especially enjoyed the cooking class experience, where we learned to prepare authentic Balinese dishes with guidance from the resort’s chefs — a highlight that connected us to the island’s culinary heritage in a meaningful way. Dining at the Four Seasons is not just about food, but about atmosphere and experience. Romantic dinners overlooking Jimbaran Bay at sunset created unforgettable memories, while casual meals by the pool offered a relaxed yet refined vibe. The staff’s attentiveness elevated every moment, making us feel like honored guests rather than visitors. Overall, the Four Seasons Bali delivered an extraordinary combination of delicious cuisine, diverse restaurant experiences, and impeccable service, all set against the backdrop of breathtaking ocean views. Sharing this experience with Ahmed made it even more special, and it’s a place we would both recommend to anyone seeking a luxurious yet culturally rich escape in Bali.
We had an amazing Christmas stay at the Four Seasons Bali and felt truly cared for as a family. Traveling with two young daughters, ages 5 and 7, the staff went above and beyond to make the experience special and stress-free. We arrived very late around 11pm, and the team still took the time to make our Christmas so magical! Their thoughtful gestures created such a magical moment for our children and meant so much to us. The service throughout our stay was warm, kind, and genuinely attentive. The Four Seasons Bali delivered a memorable and heartfelt holiday experience, and we will always remember how special they made Christmas for our family. We’ve stayed at many Four Seasons and this location was phenomenal! Thank you to the amazing staff!
I stayed in a riverfront villa at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. The spa is absolutely outstanding — deeply relaxing and beautifully designed — and the overall atmosphere of the resort is calm, refined, and almost otherworldly. Everything flows effortlessly, from the service to the setting, making the entire stay feel like a slice of paradise. A place that nourishes both body and soul.

We were here for the rooftop lotus pond romantic dinner. It was one of our favorite experiences in Bali so far. The staff were fabulous, and the food was unique and perfectly prepared. There was a dance show on the Sunday evening that we were there, so we got to watch that as well.

More Hotels in Bali

Alila Villas Uluwatu
Alila Villas Uluwatu made its name as the clifftop resort that proved Bali could do cutting-edge contemporary architecture. Designed by WOHA, the Singaporean firm known for gravity-defying tropical buildings, it is a study in clean lines, infinity edges, and a cage-like bamboo structure that houses the spectacular Warung restaurant.

Ayana Resort Bali
Ayana occupies a vast clifftop estate above Jimbaran Bay, with around 290 rooms spread across three connected properties: Ayana Resort, Ayana Segara, and the ultra-premium Ayana Villas. The scale is larger and less intimate than the neighbouring Four Seasons, but the facilities are staggering: a dozen restaurants, a private beach, an enormous spa, and Rock Bar, possibly the most famous bar in Bali, built on natural rocks at the base of the cliff.

Capella Ubud
Capella Ubud is the most distinctive hotel in Bali and one of the most original anywhere. Designed by Bill Bensley, the architect behind some of Asia's most theatrical properties, it reimagines a glamorous 1800s colonial-era camp through Bensley's signature maximalist wit. The 22 tented retreats and single lodge are scattered through dense rainforest, each one a fantasia of antique furniture, handpicked curiosities, and deliberate excess.
