Sorico Beach

Sorico Beach, at the northern tip of Lake Como near the Pian di Spagna nature reserve, is one of the largest sand beaches on the lake. Most of Lake Como's shoreline is pebble or rock, so this is the place to come for real sand.

The beach is free. There is paid public parking and food and drink nearby, but no sunbed hire. The water deepens quickly, so keep an eye on children.

The northern lake is the windiest part of Lake Como: the Breva blows from the south most summer afternoons, which makes Sorico and nearby Domaso popular for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Swim in the morning for calmer water.

This lovely walking path hugs the shore of Lake Como, winding gently from Sorico to Gera Lario. It's worth visiting in every season, since the scenery shifts with each one — always a little different, yet somehow always breathtaking. And when the walk starts to tire you out, there's truly nothing better than settling onto a bench and just letting the moment unfold — watching autumn leaves drift down, the sun melt into the horizon, or a little family of ducklings paddling past as if you weren't even there.
