La Sponda
If there is a more romantic restaurant setting on the Amalfi Coast, nobody has found it yet. La Sponda occupies the terrace of Le Sirenuse hotel, and on a warm evening, with hundreds of candles flickering, the village tumbling away below, and Positano's beach glowing in the distance, the effect is transporting.
The food is refined southern Italian, heavy on seafood and local vegetables, with the Amalfi lemon featuring throughout. This is a once-in-a-trip experience that earns its price.
Expect EUR 120-160 per person. Dress well, as Le Sirenuse keeps standards, and book at least a week ahead, longer in July and August.
Guest Reviews
Hard to find a more iconic dining atmosphere in Positano. The price is expensive but what you receive in food, atmosphere, and service is something truly memorable and satisfying. The restaurant is in the beautiful Le Sirenuse hotel and has true wow factor. My girlfriend requested a specific table and even though we weren’t hotel guests, the staff got us the view she wanted. Food was delicious and great portions considering it is fine dining. Very satisfied with all dishes. I loved how many different waiters were walking around and tended to our table. All of them felt senior in professionalism. The thing I loved most was not only was the service Michelin-level professional, but everyone was genuinely friendly and warm, true Italian hospitality! The manager Giulio was so friendly and our main server Giovanni was excellent. This experience took our trip in Positano from already amazing to magical. It’s worth it!
They seated us at a beautiful table right away, even though we arrived quite early for our reservation. It was a lovely dinner with a gorgeous view of the city lights coming on and the sea as the sun set. Watching the dining room light dim as the candles glow is a sight to see! The food is presented so beautifully and the flavors perfectly complement each other. Vincenzo and his staff went above and beyond to make our 25th anniversary celebration, so special and memorable, even serenading us with music and a special dessert with a candle. This was the final night of our two week Italy trip and a highlight that we will remember for a lifetime. We are so grateful. Thank you, La Sponda!
Food was of good quality. Setting and views spectacular. The band (two men) serenade every table, making it a special birthday dinner. However, the pretentious atmosphere was VERY stuck up, making it hard to relax. I made this booking well in advance hoping to get a good seat, but was then informed only hotel guests get front row good view seats? We are paying customers, we should be treated equally! The minimum spend was a little crazy considering you will easily be full with main and dessert at €70 each. But its €160 minimum EACH. Staff were attentive (maybe a little bit too much).
We celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary at La Sponda, and it couldn’t have been a more magical first night! We didn’t have advanced reservations but decided to RSVP online for the earliest available time. Although they couldn’t guarantee a table with a view, we were overjoyed when we were seated with one! The ambiance was absolutely enchanting — soft candlelight, stunning coastal views, and two Italian singers serenading couples throughout the evening. It truly felt like a scene out of a romantic movie. ❤️ The service was impeccable — attentive, professional, and kind. The food was excellent overall; the only reason we’re giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the pasta dish was a bit too salty for our taste. Still, every bite reflected authentic Italian quality and care. La Sponda made our anniversary so special — a night we’ll never forget. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a romantic dining experience in Positano!
When you conjure an image of elegant dining on the Amalfi Coast, La Sponda is what you are picturing. Beautiful surroundings, smart eloquent waiting staff, exquisite cuisine and that incredible ambiance that instantly relaxes you. From cocktails in Aldo's bar, overlooking Positano's waterfront, to the marvellously prepared and presented dinner accompanied by the finest local wines and that charming, oh so Italian, guitar and mandolin duet as the evening light softens through the picture windows.

Chez Black
An institution on Positano's main beach since 1949, Chez Black is the kind of place where you will see A-listers in linen shirts eating pizza alongside Italian families on holiday. The wood-fired pizzas are excellent, the seafood pasta is reliable, and the people-watching is world-class.

Cumpa Cosimo
At the opposite end of the spectrum from Rossellinis, Cumpa Cosimo has been feeding visitors and locals in Ravello since 1929. The portions are enormous, the pasta is handmade daily, and the atmosphere is cheerfully chaotic.

Don Alfonso 1890
Don Alfonso holds one Michelin star and has kept its place among the south's finest restaurants for decades. The Iaccarino family's restaurant sits above the coast in the quiet hilltop village of Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, away from the tourist crush below.
