Eden Rock

No conversation about St. Barts accommodation begins anywhere else. Eden Rock occupies a dramatic rocky promontory that divides St. Jean beach into two crescents, and its position alone would make it iconic. But the hotel earns its reputation through relentless attention to detail: individually designed suites, a Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant, and a wine cellar that reads like a love letter to Burgundy.

The Sand Bar, perched directly above the turquoise shallows, is one of the Caribbean's great lunch spots — and it's open to non-guests. Rooms start around EUR 1,200 per night in shoulder season, climbing steeply in winter.

If you want to be in the social centre of the island with St. Jean beach at your feet, there is simply nowhere better. Eden Rock is the hotel that defines St. Barts, and has done for decades.

Ate at Sandbar twice for lunch during a recent visit to the island. Service, food, and ambiance were among the best we experienced in St. Barths. Servers and staff were so nice, polished, and accommodating. The tuna tartare ( one of our go to dishes) was the best we’ve had ANYWHERE! Oetker properties do not disappoint. We’ll be back whenever we visit the island!

Phenomenal, in every aspect. But just a mention to the delicious and relaxed lunches at the Beach Bar. Highly recommend both the Mahi Mahi Burger, and the Lobster Roll - amazing.

Great place to get a bite to eat. Good food, prices expensive but this is a 5 star resort. Lovely beach out front.

Nice place to have breakfast. You do not need to be a hotel guest and the breakfast rate of 75 Euro is reasonable for such a beautiful place to sit down and start your day.

If you’re staying at Eden Rock, the Rock Suite is easily one of the most special places on the property. Built right into the rock at the tip of the peninsula, it feels completely private — like your own little world carved above the water. Waking up there is unreal: floor-to-ceiling windows open out to panoramic views of the Caribbean, and you can literally hear the waves underneath you. The suite has a huge private terrace, a massive outdoor lounge space, and direct access to the beach if you want it — but honestly, it’s hard to even leave your own balcony. You’re steps from the main Eden Rock beach, Shellona Beach, and all the shops and cafes in Gustavia are a quick drive or walk if you want a change of scenery. Renting a boat for the day is super easy too — they can arrange it straight from the hotel, and Colombier Beach and Gouverneur are short rides if you want private swimming coves. The hotel itself feels like a little world inside the island. There’s a beautiful boutique (definitely worth checking out for curated fashion and art), a beach club with unbelievable food and cocktails, a spa tucked into the hillside, and of course, the iconic Remy’s Bar. Everything is close, intimate, easy — nothing ever feels corporate or stiff. One thing that really stood out this trip: I picked up the exclusive Diptyque x Eden Rock candle and room spray from the boutique — and you can only get them here. The scent completely captures the vibe of the island — light, salty, warm — and it’s honestly one of the best souvenirs you can bring back if you want a little piece of St. Barths at home. If you’re thinking about Eden Rock — or booking the Rock Suite specifically — just know it’s not just about the room. It’s the view, the feeling, the little moments they get exactly right. After four stays, I can say there’s truly nothing else like it.
