Trattoria Baita Belvedere
Pescallo is a tiny fishing hamlet tucked behind the headland from Bellagio, a ten-minute walk down a steep path from the town centre and a world away from its bustle. Trattoria Baita Belvedere sits at the water's edge, with a small terrace overlooking the harbour and a handful of wooden boats. The menu is short, seasonal, and built around whatever came out of the lake that morning.
Order the missoltini, sun-dried shad served pressed with polenta and bay leaves. It is an acquired taste, intensely savoury and almost anchovy-like, but the single most authentic dish you can eat on the lake. The risotto al pesce persico, made with delicate perch fillets, is the other order to make.
A meal for two with local white wine runs EUR 50-70. Arrive early for lunch; the terrace fills fast and they do not take bookings for it.

Food, service, and atmosphere all amazing. Views can’t be beat. The restaurant provided van transportation to and from Bellagio. We had an amazing Celtic antipasto board which was smoked beef, ham, and ricotta. The first and second plates were amazing. Dessert was all very good as well. The wait staff really knew the wine menu through and through and were able to provide great recommendations for local and Italian wines. It was my sister-in-law’s birthday. Definitely a place for special occasions.
Everything was great! The shuttle ride to get up to the restaurant was a really nice plus. Amazing view, delicious food, extremely knowledgeable staff (especially on wine), etc. everything was top notch and I LOVE that's it's a family run operation.
The most stunning view you’ll find of Lake Como. If that isn’t enough the food is incredible, the staff is super friendly and funny. They don’t rush you one bit and are very accommodating. They even shuttle you up and down the mountain. I stared at that view of the lake for literally an hour straight. MUST GO TO SPOT
Great chef and menu choice, delicious food, decent wine list and attentive front of house then the view is the cherry on the cake. Forget the hustle in Bellagio come here and appreciate it from a distance in a super setting, and no doubt pay less for better quality. PS the donkeys are not on the menu just there for entertainment, bring your own carrots, they will love it.
Beautiful views over the Lake and good food presentation. Came with friends and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Will also add that on our departure we walked past the kitchen where we could see them preparing and a lovely little dog waiting

Albergo Milano
Varenna, on the eastern shore, is quieter and less polished than Bellagio, which is exactly its appeal. The waterfront is lovely, with a narrow lakeside promenade and a handful of restaurants that catch the afternoon sun and the views across to the western mountains.

Bilacus
In Bellagio, the waterfront restaurants along the lungolago tend to trade on location rather than quality. For better cooking, head uphill to the quieter streets behind the waterfront, where Bilacus serves reliable Lombardian cuisine in a pleasant courtyard in the old town.

Crotto dei Platani
A crotto is a traditional Lombard restaurant built into or against a natural rock formation, using cool air from mountain caves as a natural refrigerator, a technique that predates electricity by centuries. Crotto dei Platani, in the small village of Brienno on the western shore, is one of the finest examples. The terrace extends over the water beneath enormous plane trees, and on a still summer evening it is as atmospheric as dining gets.
