Añejo
Where Caracol aims for refinement, Añejo delivers a more relaxed but equally accomplished experience centred on Mexican and coastal Latin American cooking. The setting is casual-elegant: open fire, hanging copper pans, and a mezcal bar that ranks among Central America's best.
The tacos are considered without being precious: soft corn tortillas made from heirloom masa, filled with smoked marlin or braised short rib. The guacamole is prepared tableside with a mortar and pestle, which sounds like theatre but produces a noticeably better texture.
Budget around USD 80-120 per person. No reservation is required for the bar, but the dining terrace books up quickly at weekends.
Guest Reviews
To say it was amazing is to say nothing. We wanted to eat at the restaurant but they were fully booked, and now I can say that we were lucky that they were. Food at Añejo was simply amazing. We tried almost everything on the menu. Their food is tapas style so make sure you order a couple of plates per person if you are hungry! Fish was super fresh with a perfect balance of spices and salt. Drinks were superb, we have tried Mercado margarita, don avila, edelflower pisco sour, and kaldi martini and I can’t pick which of these I liked the most! Definitely worth the drive. If you are in a Costa Rica Guanacaste region make a stop at this fantastic place!
We took a shuttle from Andaz to check out the Four Seasons. This rating does not take into consideration the Four Seasons as a whole.
Formerly known as Ticos, Añejo is a lively bar and restaurant. Chef Chang has now brought an Asian fusion into the menu flavor. Lovely dishes, lovely staff. One of my favorite places when keeping it casual. Have enjoyed this location for over 20 years now. Thank you for spicing it up!
This is a review of the bar. We had an amazing time with bartenders jean Carlos and Mario. Both were knowledgeable about the cocktails and the drinks in general. It is always apparent when someone is passionate about their craft and that was the case with the bartenders here. Definitely worth spending some time here
Jessler was our server and he was one of the best servers I had in the property

More Restaurants in Costa Rica

Al Mercat
Al Mercat brings Barcelona-trained technique to Costa Rican ingredients with a confidence that has made it one of the capital's most consistently excellent restaurants. Chef-driven and farm-focused, the kitchen leans on produce from its own growers, and the format is Mediterranean-inspired sharing plates: burrata with Central Valley tomatoes and basil, grilled prawns with romesco, suckling pig with apple and fennel.

Árbol
Set within a boutique property on the forested hillside above Manuel Antonio, Árbol ("tree") earns its name literally: the restaurant is built around and within the canopy, with monkeys occasionally crossing the branches overhead as you eat. It would be easy for a place with this setting to coast on the view, but the kitchen takes the food seriously.

Pacifico Azul
Perched on a hillside above Playa Guiones with views through the tree canopy to the Pacific, Pacifico Azul captures the best of Nosara's new wave: ingredient-driven cooking that is simple in conception but meticulous in execution. The chef works directly with local fishermen and a network of small farms within a thirty-kilometre radius.
