Black Ginger is the most theatrical arrival in Phuket dining. At The Slate on Nai Yang Beach, near the airport, a raft carries you across a lagoon to a traditional Thai house on the far side. Chef Anongrat "Piak" Meklai cooks Southern Thai recipes, and the cooking is good enough to justify the entrance.

The menu is à la carte, with dishes from about ฿110 to ฿620 (about USD 3-18) according to 2024 menus. It works well as a first or last night on the island, given how close it is to the airport.

It is open daily from 6pm to 11pm. Bookings need a non-refundable deposit of ฿1,000 per person from April to September and ฿2,000 per person from October to March (about USD 30-60), and the dress code is smart casual.
